Attacking UP govt over pending dues of sugarcane farmers, SC Bar Association said Centre can impose President`s Rule in the state.

Meerut: Attacking the Uttar Pradesh government over the pending dues of sugarcane farmers, Supreme Court Bar Association on Sunday said Centre can impose President`s Rule in the state for not honouring the courts` rulings on the matter.

"It is very said that even after winning in the High Court and Supreme Court, farmers are not getting their dues. It is the contempt of court, and the Centre can impose President Rule," SC Bar Association president M N Krishnamani said.

Mani was speaking at the Commissionery Park here on the 13th day of the indefinite Dharna (sit-in) organised by the farmers for demanding their pending dues.

Even after the apex court ruling, UP government had not been successful in getting the pending dues of farmers cleared by the sugar mills, the farmer leader VM Singh said.
