Cold, fog-related mishaps claim five in UP

Five persons died in different parts of Uttar Pradesh due to cold and fog-related mishaps in the last 24 hours.

While two died due to cold in Kushinagar, one death was reported in Maharajganj, Ghazipur and Etawah each, official sources said here.

According to the local MET department, light rain and thundershowers occurred at isolated places in the state.

While temperatures fell markedly in Agra division, fell appreciably in Bareilly and Jhansi divisions, fell in Kanpur, Lucknow divisions and changed little elsewhere.

They were appreciably above normal in Faizabad division, above normal in Gorakhpur division and normal in the remaining divisions of the state, it said.

Lowest minimum temperature in the state was 6.4 degrees Celsius which was recorded at Etawah.

The Met department has forecast dry weather and fog at few places in the state tomorrow.
