Complaint regarding Kanpur mosque referred to Centre

Uttar Pradesh unit of the Minorities Commission has asked the Centre to look into a complaint that a Kanpur mosque is in possession of military authorities who have allegedly barred the entry of devotees there to offer namaz.

complaint that a Kanpur mosque is in possession of military
authorities who have allegedly barred the entry of devotees
there to offer namaz.

Hearing a complaint in this regard, UPSMC Chairman SMA
Kazami shot off a letter to the Union defence secretary asking
him to immediately verify the truth about Kanpur`s Bhajjapurwa
Mosque and nominate a responsible officer to appear before the
commission on November 13 when the matter comes up next for
hearing.

The complainant Mohd Alam Raza Khan has alleged in his
petition that military authorities of Kanpur had stopped the
entry of Muslims in the mosque to offer `Namaz` and also
`Fateha` on the mazar of Hazrat Peer Mohd Sahab alias Ghazi
Khalifa, situated adjacent to the mosque since October 19,
1993.

He has also alleged that the military have raised some
new constructions which have disshaped the mosque and mazar.
