Lucknow: Amid tight security, suspected
terrorists Sabahuddin Ahmed and Fahim Ansari, acquitted in
26/11 attacks case, were today brought here by train from
Mumbai to face trial in two cases each.
"Saba and Fahim were brought to Lucknow by Mumbai
police this afternoon and the two terrorists have been sent to
Lucknow jail amidst tight security arrangements," Additional
Director General of Police (law and order) Brij Lal told
reporters here.
Ahmed alias Saba, who is the alleged mastermind of
CRPF camp attack in Rampur in 2007, is facing trial in the
case and has also been charged with Arms Act. Fahim has cases
of Arms Act and forgery registered against him.
The first case was registered at Civil line police
station under Arms Act after a pistol and cartridges were
recovered from Fahim`s possession, Lal said.
Another case of forgery was also registered against
Fahim after he managed to get driving licences on the basis of
fake documents in the names of Sahil Pawaskar and Samir Sheikh
in Delhi and Mumbai respectively, Brij Lal said.
"A Pakistani passport was recovered from Fahim`s
possession, who is a trained terrorist," he claimed.
The ADG said that two cases were also pending against
Saba in UP - one in Lucknow and another in Rampur.
"In an Arms Act case lodged at Hussainganj police
station in Lucknow, an AK-47 rifle and cartridges were
recovered from Saba`s possession. This AK-47 was used in
Rampur CRPF camp attack, in which seven jawans and a
rickshawpuller were killed," he said.
Brij Lal said that a charge sheet in this case had
already been filed in the court.
"Another case is related to attack on Rampur CRPF camp
in which two Pakistani nationals Imran Shahzad and Farooq,
Mohd Shareef and Jung Bahadur Singh were also named aprt from
Saba," he said.
He said that Saba was the mastermind of the attack and
two Pakistani nationals were `fidayeens`.
"A charge sheet had been filed against Saba, who is
LeT trained terrorist," he said.
Brij Lal said that the trial of the two terrorists
would be held in Rampur court and police had sufficient
evidence against the duo.
He claimed that Saba was made "commander" in Nepal by
the Lashkar-e Taiba.
