Four children drown in Aligarh

Aligarh: Four children were drowned in an
water-logged open field in the old city when they went there
to play near Aligarh-Mathura road which recently experienced
heavy rains.

City Superintendent of Police Man Singh Chauhan said the
children, all whom where in the age group of ten to twelve,
were found in a low-lying area of the field belonging to the
Aligarh Municipal Corporation which had recently been leased
to a private waste disposal management company.

As news of the incident spread, a large crowd gathered
at the spot and protested against alleged negligence of the
Municipal authorities, which led to the tragedy.
