Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government today took several important decisions including providing free pathological tests in the government hospitals and also approved in principle a draft for the new urban housing and environment policy.
"A new housing policy has come in which the government would work in the direction to ensure that even the poorest, those who cannot afford a house get their own dwelling," Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav told reporters after the cabinet meeting here.
The draft proposal was presented before the cabinet today and after much deliberation it was approved in principle, an official spokesman said here, adding that the cabinet authorised the Chief Minister to take the decision in this connection.
The cabinet also decided that 100 types of pathological tests would be provided free of cost in the government hospitals.
It approved a proposal to set up and construct primary and community health centres on the basis of population census of the year 2011.
As per the policy, 1647 primary and 719 community health centres would be set up in 12th and 13th five-year plan in a phased manner.
The cabinet approved a proposal for construction of one OPD block at Balrampur hospital. It also approved a proposal to include non-government and un-aided schools and degree colleges affiliated with Sampoornanand Sanskrit University upto the year 2000 on grant list.
It approved another proposal to set up an advance opthalmic centre and service block at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences at Lucknow.
The government decided to give revised pay scale to the present and former employees of the Khadi and Gramodyog Board with effect from January 1, 2006 and increased the age of superannuation from 58 years to 60 years.
The cabinet approved cost assessment of the irrigation department`s land provided for construction of memorials, museums and parks. Under the programme, the assessed fund of Rs 150.63 crore would be transferred to the irrigation department.
It also approved a proposal to set up a depot of the North-South corridor of Lucknow Metro Rail Project at the premises of 32nd PAC at Kanpur road, the spokesperson said.
