An independent candidate in the UP elections was shot at from point blank range near her office at Jassipura while she was talking on her mobile phone.

UP elections was shot at from point blank range near her
office at Jassipura while she was talking on her mobile phone,
police said on Monday.

Madhu Suheja, was shot at 9.40 pm with a .32 bore
revolver, police said adding the bullet hit her soldiers.

The injury marks clearly indicate that the bullet was
shot from a point blank range, but the victim could not
identify the shooter, SSP Raghubir Lal said.

Supporters rushed Suneja to the Yashoda hospital here
where she was treated and declared to be out of danger.

Even though Suneja has alleged that the attack was due to
election rivalry, the police has ruled out the possibility.
