Letter threatening to blow up ADJ office found in UP; one arrested

A youth has been arrested for allegedly carrying a letter that threatened to blow up the office and residence of the additional district judge here, a senior police official said on Sunday.

Bahraich (UP): A youth has been arrested for allegedly carrying a letter that threatened to blow up the office and residence of the additional district judge here, a senior police official said on Sunday.

Superintendent of Police RL Verma said that on Friday a letter, purportedly on the letter-head of Hijb-ul-Mujahideen was received at the district judge office, threatening to blow up the residence and office of the additional district judge.

He said that after receiving the letter, the entire court premises and the judge's residence was searched, but nothing was found.

Verma said that during the investigation name of one Vinod (25) cropped up, who was arrested yesterday.

The SP said that during the interrogation Vinod said that a Nepalese citizen, identified as Shyamlal (35), who is currently lodged in a jail, allegedly gave him the letter on October 10.

He said that a case has been lodged against Vinod and Shyamlal, who would be taken on remand.
