Lucknow: A city school has become one of the 15 non-governmental organisations in India to get registered as an NGO with the United Nations Department of Public Information.

This brings the number of such groups associated with the Department in the area of communications and information outreach to 1,380.

The City Montessari School will be now able to participate in various programmes, conferences and seminars organized by the UNO and put forth its idea on World Unity and World Peace in order to safeguard the future of 2.4 billion children of the world and generations yet unborn.

"It is a God-sent opportunity for the institution to further strengthen its efforts and work with greater zeal in the fulfillment of its goal of World Unity," said Dr Jagdish Gandhi, founder of CMS and a renowned educationist in a press release.

"With this new found status of official NGO, the institution will raise its voice higher on the world scenario and appeal with greater force in all corners of the globe," he added.

The Director of the Outreach Division, Maher Nasser welcomed the newly associated groups and emphasised on collaboration to achieve mutual goals and objectives.

The newly associated organisations will bring several issues like health, sustainable development, women, education, labour and refugees under the United Nations post-2015 development agenda.
