Mayawati honours policemen on I-Day

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati hoisted the tricolour here on Sunday to mark India`s 64th Independence Day and honoured three policemen for meritorious services.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati hoisted the tricolour here on Sunday to mark India`s 64th Independence Day and honoured three policemen for meritorious services.

At the main function in front of the assembly building, Mayawati gave away the chief minister`s medal to Chandra Prakash, inspector general of the Meerut zone, Shahab Rasheed Khan, deputy superintendent of police, special task force, and Anil Kaparwal, inspector of Hapur police station.

Security had been intensified in and around all important installations and historical monuments nearly 24 hours ahead of the celebrations.
