Mayawati is searching for Amit Shah's cook – Here's why

Lucknow: BJP president Amit Shah's recent lunch with Dalits in Varanasi appears to have upset BSP supremo Mayawati no end.

Keen to 'expose' Shah, Mayawati has, reportedly, told her cadre to search for the cook who prepared the food eaten by the BJP president and other party functionaries at Jogiyapur village near Varanasi.

As per a report in The Times of India, Mayawati believes that the cook was not a Dalit but someone from the upper caste.

The newspaper quotes BSP's zonal coordinator, Dr Ram Kumar Kureel, confirming the directive from the party chief.

As per Kureel, of the 250 people came along with Shah, only 50 had lunch. It shows their casteist mindset, he said.

Earlier, Mayawati had slammed Shah for indulging in “drama” and compared his act to that of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s many visits to Dalits' homes in the past.

Targeting the BJP for its “double standards,” Mayawati said while on one hand the statue of her mentor and Dalit icon Kanshiram was desecrated in BJP-ruled Haryana; on the other, the BJP, which she described as “casteist,” was indulging in “theatrics” keeping in mind the 2017 polls.
