Media persons attacked by people running unauthorised coaching

Six media persons, covering a raid on unauthorised coaching classes in the city, were attacked and their valuables snatched allegedly by a group of people running the centres.

Mainpuri: Six media persons, covering a raid on unauthorised coaching classes in the city, were attacked and their valuables snatched allegedly by a group of people running the centres.

The incident took place when a team led by the district inspector of schools (DIOS) raided unauthorised coaching centres near Natraj hotel here last evening, police said.
On the information that some teachers of aided schools were running unauthorised coaching centres, the team raided a two storey building but two managers present on the occasion instigated the teachers and students to take law into their hands, according to the DIOS, Kamta Ram Pal.

The media persons accompanying the raiding team was also attacked and their valuables including cameras, mobile phones and cash, allegedly looted.

One seriously injured cameraman of a national Hindi daily was rushed to district hospital while the remaining were discharged after first aid, he said.
Two FIRs have been filed in this connection, one by the injured cameramen against the two managers and others and the other by the DIOS against unknown persons, police said, adding efforts were on to nab the culprits.
