Amethi: A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed by unidentified persons in Ramgarh village under Sangrampur police station here, police said today.
The incident happened last night when some unknown assailants barged into the girl`s house while she was sleeping along with her family and took her away, Additional Superintendent of Police, P Munna Lal told.
The accused raped the girl and strangulated her to death, he said.
Blood stains were found at the victim`s mouth and private parts, Mohd Hamid, Station House Officer (SHO) of Amethi police station said.
All the top officers of the district rushed to the spot on being informed about the incident, police said, adding that an FIR has been lodged by the victim`s family against unknown persons and the body has been sent for post-mortem.
