Muzaffarnagar: The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Uttar Pradesh government to implement the district court's order regarding rehabilitation and compensation for the gang-rape victims, of the 2013 communal clashes which broke out here, within four weeks.
According to reports, the Uttar Pradesh government has informed the Supreme Court that so far 22 accused has been arrested in this case and a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each has been given to the victim girls.
Seven riot-related gang-rape cases were initially registered against 27 people in Muzaffarnagar.
Communal violence which broke out in Muzaffarnagar in early September of last year left more than 40 people dead and about 40,000 homeless.
