Noida land acquisition: Farmers sit on dharna

Noida: Hundreds of farmers on Thursday sat on
dharna at Sector 74-75 here, protesting land acquisition by
the state government and demanding hike in compensation.
The farmers, under the banner of Kisan Sangarsh Samiti
Sorkha Jahirabad, claimed that state government had not given
them 5 per cent developed land as promised, and also demanded
hike in compensation.

They alleged their land was acquired in 2005 and were
not given the land compensation, that was hiked in 2008.

"Our land was acquired under urgency clause for
industrial purpose and allotted to private builders," said a
protesting farmer.
He claimed that officials have requested one week`s
time to solve the problem.
