Noida: A 26-year-old software engineer, Ankit Chauhan, was shot dead by two car-borne miscreants in broad daylight in Noida on Monday.

The police suspect it to be a case of personal enmity and is investigating the murder.

The incident took place at around 4:30 pm when the victim, who was employed with TCS, was returning after meeting his wife, Amisha, who is also a software engineer.

Accompanied by his friend, Gagan, Ankit went to meet his wife at her office in Noida's Sector 135 yesterday afternoon in his Toyota Fortuner.

On his way back, he realised that he was being followed by two men in Honda Accord.

Alarmed, he messaged the number of the car following him to his friends and called up his uncle and informed him as well. However, the car soon overtook them and blocked his car before shooting at him.

Ankit suffered gunshot wounds on his face and hands and was taken to a hospital by a passerby as his friend, who escaped unhurt, did not know how to drive.

He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.

Ankit hailed from Meerut and was married in March.
