NRHM scam: 3 UP health officials chargesheeted

The officers were chargesheeted after the then secretary Health and family welfare Mritunjay Narain, who was inquiring into irregularities in award of tenders, submitted his report to the government, he said.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has chargesheeted three senior health officers, including Director General Health, for their alleged involvement in
irregularities in implementation of the National Rural Health Mission in the state.

"Director General Health, SP Ram, Director Family welfare Usha Narain and joint director, family welfare, Rajiv Banswal have been served chargesheets yesterday for committing irregularities in award of tenders and execution of supply order placed to UP small industries corporation", a senior Health official said today.

The officers were chargesheeted after the then secretary Health and family welfare Mritunjay Narain, who was inquiring into irregularities in award of tenders,
submitted his report to the government, he said.

The officers held the three prima facie guilty of committing irregularities in awarding tenders.

The state government has constituted seven committees to probe NRHM irregularities.

Of the three officials, DG Health Dr Ram is retiring today. He will be giving charge to Director General, Family Welfare Dr Ramji Lal.
