Lucknow: Taking doctors to task for
absenting themselves from work, government has dismissed over
a thousand medicos from service.

1,053 doctors, missing from work for nearly two
decades without informing the authorities, have been dismissed
from service following an approval from Uttar Pradesh Governor
B L Joshi, officials said.

The doctors were either involved in private practice
or were trying to evade new postings at other places, they
said, adding that among those dismissed were 45 women.
The complaint against some doctors even dates back to
1991-92 period, they said.
