Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday dismissed a PIL seeking a direction for removal of PL Punia from the post of the chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.

The Lucknow Bench of the court gave its judgement on the PIL filed by local lawyer Ashok Pandey.

Refusing to issue any direction, the Division Bench comprising justices VK Shukla and BK Srivastava observed the petitioner can raise his grievance before the Union government if he so desires.

The petitioner alleged Punia is acting as a Congress spokesperson which is not permissible under the law as he is chairman of the Commission.

The petitioner sought a direction for his removal from the post.
