Rajnath Singh to visit UP to meet stampede victims, families

Former BJP President Rajnath Singh will visit Allahabad Saturday to meet injured victims of the stampede at Swami Kripalu Maharaj`s ashram and then travel to Pratapgarh to meet families of those killed in the incident.

Sources close to Singh said he will leave for Allahabad
tomorrow to see those who were rushed there after the stampede
and are undergoing treatment in hospitals there.
"Rajnath Singh will then go to Pratapgarh to visit the
ashram where the stampede took place and meet the family
members of those who were killed in the incident," a close
aide of the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said.

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi is also likely to
visit Pratapgarh.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced in the Lok Sabha
an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of those
killed in the stampede and Rs 50,000 to those seriously
injured.
