School Principal, Manager booked for 'casteist' remarks

The Principal and Manager of a private school here have been booked on charges of hurling casteist remarks against a student's father and also threatening to kill him, police said on Sunday.

Etah: The Principal and Manager of a private school here have been booked on charges of hurling casteist remarks against a student's father and also threatening to kill him, police said on Sunday.

According to the complaint filed by one Jeetoo, his son Arjun (6) was injured in the eye after being beaten up by one of his classmates on February 23 following which the school agreed to foot the bill of his treatment.

But when Jeetoo presented the bill for treatment and an estimate cost for the second operation on Arjun's eye, school Principal Manorama Verma, Manager Dev Rishi Jain and Anuj Jain allegedly hurled casteist remarks and threatened to kill him.

In his application to the court, Jeetoo alleged that officials at Etah city police station and also the Senior Superintendent of Police refused to register his complaint.

Upon the direction of the court, an FIR was lodged in this connection yesterday and investigation is underway, police said, adding no arrests have been made yet.
