Security alert issued in UP for Eid

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh police today issued
a security alert to ensure smooth celebration of Eid in the
state tomorrow and deployed additional security personnel in
communally-sensitive areas.

"We have issued an alert throught out the state. All the
district police chiefs and district magistrates have been
asked to ensure law and order", ADG (Law and Order) Brijlal
told reporters here.

He said 34 companies (about 3400 personnel) of PAC and 10
companies (1000) of RAF had been deployed in sensitive
districts like Aligarh, Agra, Lucknow, Kanpur, Meerut,
Allahabad, Faizabad, Moradabad and Varanasi.

Besides, arrangements have been made for anti-sabotage
checks at prominent places, he said.
