SP threatens to stall Assembly proceedings over "fake" cases

Samajwadi Party said it will raise the issue in the forthcoming session of Uttar Pradesh Assembly and threatened to stall its proceedings.

Lucknow: Demanding withdrawal of cases
registered against its workers and leaders, Samajwadi Party
on Thursday said it will raise the issue in the forthcoming session
of Uttar Pradesh Assembly and threatened to stall its
proceedings.

"We demand that the state government should withdraw
cases against MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya and
other innocent party leaders and workers, otherwise we will
strongly raise the issue in the forthcoming session and stall
its proceedings," Leader of Opposition in the UP Legislative
Council Ahmad Hasan told reporters here.

Accusing BSP of sheltering criminals, Hasan alleged
that false cases were lodged against large number of leaders
and workers of not only SP, but other opposition parties "out
of political vendetta".

In Pratapgarh independent MLA Raja Bhaiyya, SP MP
Shailendra Kumar, MLA Vinod Saroj, MLC Akshay Pratap Singh and
seven others were arrested on "fake" charges of abduction,
arms and loot during block head elections, he alleged.

Hasan claimed that one of the accused Pradeep Singh,
who is state secretary of student wing of the party, was
admitted with a private hospital in Lucknow at the time of the
incident.

"Till now the police had failed to clarify that which
person was abducted and looted by these leaders," he
questioned.

He alleged that democracy had taken a backseat and
emergency like situation prevailed in the state.
"The Governor should immediately intervene and dismiss
the government," he demanded.
