Agra: A 19-year-old college student committed suicide in her hostel room here as she was under "tremendous mental stress due to examinations", police said Thursday.

Ritu Saraswat, a fourth semester B.Sc. (Home Science) student of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra, bolted the door of her room Wednesday after her sister Preeti went out for some work.
When Preeti returned and failed to get her sister to open the door, she called her friends who broke it open and found Ritu hanging from the ceiling fan, the police said.

She was then taken to the G.G. Nursing Home where doctors declared her brought dead.

A suicide note with the word "sorry" was recovered from her room, the police said, adding that an inquiry has been ordered.
According to students, Ritu was under "tremendous mental stress due to examinations as she felt her preparation was not good".
