Lucknow: A suspected terrorist, wanted in a
number of cases including the murder of a top district
official, was arrested by the ATS from Alambagh area here,
police said on Tuesday.
Mohammad Rehan, a resident of Kanpur, was arrested by
the Anti-Terrorism Squad team yesterday following a tip-off,
they said, adding he had been absconding since 2001.
Rehan was wanted in a number of cases in Kanpur district,
including the murder of ADM city C P Pathak and hurling bombs
at PAC trucks in 2001, police said.
After 2001, he fled to Delhi and later settled in Alambagh
area after changing his name to Raj Ahmad and had also
succeeded in getting a voter ID, bank account and driving
licence, they said.
Rehan is currently lodged at Moolganj police station in
Kanpur.
