Tehsildar caught in sting demanding bribe in UP

A case was filed against a tehsildar in the Kotwali police station here after he was allegedly caught on camera demanding bribe from a villager, who conducted a sting on him.

Bahraich: A case was filed against a tehsildar in the Kotwali police station here after he was allegedly caught on camera demanding bribe from a villager, who conducted a sting on him.

Mata Prasad Pathak of Jagtapur village alleged that the judicial tehsildar of Sadar tehsil, Shotrohan Lal was demanding Rs 5 lakhs in connection with his case of ancestral property.

Pathak with the help of his son did a sting operation on the tehsildar and handed over its CD to the District Magistrate Narendra Kumar Singh with the application to take action against the tehsildar.

The DM Singh said that he has seen the said CD and last night a case under the anti-corruption act has been filed against the tehsildar.

CO city has been asked to investigate the matter and a report has also been sent to the government in this regard, the DM added.
