Lucknow: A day after Samajwadi Party national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav dubbed him as an "RSS worker", Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik on Tuesday refused to join issue with him saying it would be unbecoming of the constitutional post he held.

"The statement issued by Ram Gopal Yadav is a political statement and reacting to it will be not in keeping with my post," Naik said on the sidelines of a programme here.

"I am occupying a constitutional post and it is not right for me to speak on political statements," he said, adding that it will not be in keeping with the dignity of the governor's post.

Reacting to Naik attributing communal disturbances in the state to "very poor" law and order situation, Yadav had yesterday dubbed him as "an RSS worker" and advised him to join Union ministry to pursue his "communal agenda".

"Naik is acting as if he was not the Governor but the Home Minister of the country...," Yadav had said.
