Lucknow: Stressing that Samajwadi Party is neither opposed to English language nor computers, senior leader and Uttar Pradesh PWD minister Shivpal Yadav on Monday said that his government has only favoured equality and prosperity in the society.

"Samajwadi Party and its government has never opposed English or computers but has always favoured equality and prosperity in society," Yadav said while distributing laptops to students in Etawah today.

He congratulated UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for fulfilling the promises his party had made to the public.

Yadav said the ambitious programme of laptop distribution has helped students who, otherwise, may not have been able to get access to it.

"Laptops and computers have become essential in today`s technical education to help students gain vital information", he said, exhorting students and youth to play their role in eradicating corruption.

Yadav distributed laptops to 526 students worth over Rs 1.24 crores.
