UP govt warns against laxity in NREGS implementation

The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday warned against any laxity and corruption in the implementation of NREGS and asked concerned officials to undertake random checking of works done under it.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government
on Tuesday warned against any laxity and corruption in the
implementation of NREGS and asked concerned officials to
undertake random checking of works done under it.

Chief Minister Mayawati while gave the instructions to
senior officials after a review meeting of various ongoing
development work and asked them for re-verification of the
works undertaken under NREGS.
She asked officials to take a serious note of
complaints of corruption in the implementation of the scheme.

Directing stern action against those involved in the
supply of spurious liquor in some parts of the state, she said
that suspension of the excise department staff on such charges
would not be revoked without her consent.
On the scheme of reservation in government contracts,
she said contracts worth Rs 323 crore have been given to
people belonging to the scheduled castes and tribes.

She also asked officials to redress the problems
faced by farmers and disbursement of Mahamaya Garib Arthik
Madad Yojna and Savitri Bai Phule Balika Yojna.
