UP: Woman, paramour get life term in 1982 murder case

A local court here has sentenced a woman and her paramour to life imprisonment for killing her husband 32 years ago.

Muzaffarnagar: A local court here has sentenced a woman and her paramour to life imprisonment for killing her husband 32 years ago.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Manyank Chouhan held Shiela and Irfan guilty under section 302 (Punishment for murder) of the IPC in the murder of Ramesh Chand Gupta and sentenced them to life imprisonment yesterday.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on the two convicts.

Ramesh Chand Gupta was murdered on June 22, 1982 at his Meerut residence after he opposed his wife Shiela`s relationship with Irfan, following which the police had arrested both the accused.

The hearing of the case was shifted to Muzaffarnagar on the orders of the High Court.
