Snowfall, rain likely in Uttarakhand in next 48 hours

Dehradun: The MeT department has forecast snowfall in the hills and rain across the plains of Uttarakhand in the next 48 hours.

Snowfall may occur in areas located above 2,500 metres in both Garhwal and Kumaon regions in the next 48 hours, where as light to moderate showers may occur at many places, Director MeT office, Dehradun, Anand Sharma said.

Heavy rain coupled with hailstorms may also occur at isolated places during the period, he said.

Snowfall is likely in the higher reaches of the hills (above 2500 metres) of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh districts.
