Dehradun: Tense situation prevailed in Prem
Nagar area here tonight after Uttarakhand police allegedly
beat up ruling BJP MLA Rajkumar following an argument over
stopping of his vehicle.

The incident occurred when Rajkumar`s vehicle was stopped
by police in view of a traffic snarl in the area. This led to
heated arguments between the police personnel and Rajkumar.

Police then dragged Rajkumar, MLA from Sahaspur

him up. Later, they brought him to the Prem Nagar police
station.

A large number of party workers and some MLAs gathered at
the police station and vandalised furniture and destroyed

to take steps to defuse tension.

"The situation is tense but under control," said SSP
