Uttarakhand CM directs officials to renovate `Nehru ward`

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has directed officials to renovate the `Nehru ward` of old Jail, where Jawaharlal Nehru penned a part of his famous book `Discovery of India` during his imprisonment.

Pokhriyal Nishank on Sunday directed officials to renovate the
`Nehru ward` of old Jail, where Jawaharlal Nehru penned a part
of his famous book `Discovery of India` during his
imprisonment.

Nishank visited the jail and expressed his concern over
the `Ward` which lies in shambles.

Nishank directed the officials of culture department to
renovate `Nehru ward` and beautify the area around it as soon
as possible describing it as an important heritage site.

He said the state culture department can also take
help from Archaeological Survey of India in this regard.

Pandit Nehru had stayed in the ward when he was incarcerated
during British rule.
