Burdwan (WB): Around 300 bombs were seized from an abandoned room of a primary school at Khalipur in Burdwan district, police said on Monday.

Superintendent of Police Humayun Kabir said acting on a tip-off, CID and bomb squad raided the Khalipur primary school around 75-km from here, and seized huge amount of "socket" bombs after digging earth from the abandoned room.
Kabir said the miscreants had stored the bombs in the abandoned room of the primary school as police was conducting raids across the district to unearth cache of arms, ammunition and bombs before the Assembly elections.
"We had told the headmaster of the school that classes should not be held today as we had specific information that miscreants had stored the bombs in the abandoned room during the weekend," he said, adding, "We are trying to defuse the bombs. It will take some time as the number of bombs is huge."
