Bengal Home Secretary visits Silda camp

West Bengal Home Secretary Ardhendu Sen, along with a team of senior police officers investigating the February 15 Naxal attack on Eastern Frontier Rifle (EFR) camp, on Sunday visited the site at Silda in West Midnapore.

Sen, along with ADG (CID) Raj Kanojia and IG (West)
Zulfikar Hassan, inspected the camp where 24 jawans of the
state paramilitary force were killed and set ablaze by
Maoists.

"Sen inspected the incident site and inquired about the
route which the Maoists took to raid the camp," a senior
police officer said.

The officials did not speak to the media and the visit
was kept under wraps by the district administration.

Sen later visited the Forest Training Centre at Jhargram
and met District Magistrate Narayan Swarup Nigam,
Superintendent of Police Manoj Verma and Jhargram SDO C
Murugan.

The CID and a team of senior police officers, comprising
Kanojia and Hassan, have been investigating the Maoist raid on
the Silda camp.
