Kolkata: The Birbhum district in West Bengal once again witnessed a turf war between the workers of ruling Trinamool Congress and the opposition BJP in which one person was killed and two women were seriously injured, reports said on Friday.

According to reports, the deceased has been identified as Amrit Jamadar and is believed to be a Trinamool Congress worker.

As per reports, the man was killed after violent clashes erupted between the workers of the two sides during a local celebration where some people allegedly harassed a woman.

The locals alleged that the attackers were members of the opposition BJP.

No reaction has come from the either side in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, the local police has begun probing the case.

In the recent past, several incidents of fierce clashes between the two parties have been reported.

Both the sides have been accusing each other of targeting their workers.

In the wake of alleged increased attacks on BJP workers in West Bengal's Birbhum district by TMC workers, BJP chief Amit Shah recently set up a three-member fact-finding team which visited affected areas on October 30 to assess the situation.
