BJP to send a report on student`s death to MHA

Accusing West Bengal govt of being inactive in arresting those responsible for the killing of a college student, state BJP president said the party would send a report on it to Union Home ministry.

Kolkata: Accusing the West Bengal government of being inactive in arresting those responsible for the brutal killing of a college student, state BJP president Rahul Sinha on Monday said the party would send a report on it to the Union Home ministry.

"We will send a complete report about the killing of college student Sourav Chowdhury to the MHA so that it can take stock of the lawless situation in Bengal. The state police administration has become totally ineffective," Sinha said.

"Sourav was a party member of BJP. His family is associated with BJP. We are pained because he belongs to the BJP family. Even if a TMC or CPM worker had died, we would have expressed grief and sorrow. Any death is unfortunate and sad," Sinha said.
Sourav, whose body bearing stab wounds was found on railway tracks between Bamungachi and Duttapukur railway stations in North 24 Parganas district on July 5, was killed allegedly for starting a drive against hooch dens in the area.

Speaking about the hospitalisation of Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Pal, who made headlines for his `shoot and rape` comments, Sinha said, "He is trying to avoid Parliament. It would be much better if he is removed from Parliament permanently, as he doesn`t deserve to be an MP," he said.
Pal was admitted to a private hospital here last night after complaining of high blood pressure.
