Kolkata: The Special Crime Branch of CBI was today granted police custody of Rajat Majumdar for another three days till September 19 by an Alipore court in the Saradha chit fund case.

The CJM of Alipore Court remanded Majumdar, who was arrested by the CBI on September nine in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam which the agency is probing, to three days' police custody.

The agency is probing his involvement in the multi-crore scam as the former IPS officer was employed as a consultant with the Saradha Group and was allegedly close to the top Trinamool Congress leadership.

Earlier, the court had granted "deemed judicial custody" of Majumdar after he was hospitalised following his arrest.

The following day, the CBI got a five-day police custody of him after he was produced in the Alipore court soon after his discharge from the hospital.
