Suri: A large quantity of explosives including detonators and gelatin sticks were seized by police at Mayureswar in Birbhum district late Friday night.
Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar said 15,000 detonators and 9,200 gelatin sticks were seized from a pick-up van when it was passing by Mallarpur stop on NH 60.
Cops were waiting in the area and gave the vehicle a chase when it was passing by.
The explosives were concealed in boxes.
There was no update about any arrest in this regard so far.
Police were investigating the source of the explosives and where the vehicle was headed to.
Birbhum has a number of stone quarries.
