Gandhi Peace Foundation hungerstrike against Maoist violence

Gandhi Peace Foundation members launched a 12-hour hungerstrike here on Tuesday to register their protest against Maoist violence and terror that claimed many lives at Lalgarh and other parts of West Bengal.

``We condemn in unequivocal terms organised violence and
killing and violent activities by different outfits in
Jangalmahal and wide areas in the vicinity, which speak of
lack of trust in the democratic system of the country``,
speakers addressing the gathering at Metro channel in the
heart of the city said.
The agitators also condemned alleged police excesses on
innocent villagers in the name of tackling terrorism.

Besides the 64 members of Gandhi Peace Foundation, those
from Jansangharsh Samity and West bengal Khet Mazdoor Samity
also took part in the hungerstrike.
