Killer constable caught from Bangladesh border

The constable who allegedly shot dead three persons, including a couple, was arrested when he was trying to cross over to Bangladesh.

Kolkata: The constable who allegedly
shot dead three persons, including a couple, was on Monday
arrested from near the border when he was trying to cross over
to Bangladesh, BSF officials said.

Constable Pijush Kanti Ghosh, attached to the 8th
battalion of state armed police, had yesterday shot dead three
persons with his service rifle at Barrackpore in North 24
Parganas district and was absconding since then.

Ghosh was arrested by a BSF patrolling party early
morning at Kaharpara village under Raninagar police station in
Murshidabad district which is close to the Bangladesh border,
they said.

A resident of Jalangi area`s Sagarpara village, Ghosh
was trying to cross over to Bangladesh, they said.

Ghosh has also confessed to his crime during the
interrogation, they said.

He will be handed over to Barrackpore police later in
the day, District Superintendent of Police BL Meena said.
