Kolkata: In a shameful incident, a class I student was allegedly molested by a school bus driver at Ranikuthi area in Kolkata, reports on Monday said.
Several parents today gathered outside the school premises and protested against the authorities.
While speaking to the media, one of the agitated parents said that the school was providing no security to their children. “We have been demanding to meet he principal for three hours but no one has come out. We want to know whether a FIR has been field in the case, but we are yet to get an answer.”
Recurring sexual assaults on minor girls have evoked public outrage and raised questions about safety in schools and their compliance with safety guidelines issued by police.
The shameful incident comes just days after an office assistant in a school in Bangalore was arrested for sexual assault of a three-and-a-half-year girl studying in nursery.
An eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her 63-year-old teacher inside her school premises over a period of time. The offence came to light in early August, barely a month after the rape of a six-year-old girl at 'Vibgyor High' school in Bangalore which led to street protests.
