Kolkata: Suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh, behind bars in the Saradha scam, has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s intervention, claiming that the CBI probe into the multi-crore-rupee swindle was being influenced.

In the letter, written on his official Rajya Sabha letter head, Ghosh alleged that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the scam had taken a suspicious turn in the last three-four months.

He claimed that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her Trinamool party were the main beneficiaries of the scam.

"The CBI has collected significant proof, important documents and information in the scam. But in the last three-four months, the process has taken a suspicious turn," Ghosh said in the letter dated May 15.

"Businessmen, patronisers, promoters, who took direct indirect advantages and/or had biz connections with Saradha, are being spared or untouched by the CBI," he added.

"The CBI probe now seems to be influenced by corrupt minds and intentions and worse being controlled on different levels by different sectors of the society," said the journalist-turned politician.

Ghosh has also claimed that the CBI probe was being used as a `platform of political understanding`.

"From my TMC sources I have come to know that the TMC will support some bills of your top priority in the Rajya Sabha and will indulge in mock fight to confuse the public," he said.

"The Trinamool will also block roads of Congress and the Left Front who are being the main enemies for Delhi politics in Bengal," he added.

The former head of Saradha`s media arm reiterated his allegation of Banerjee and the top Trinamool leadership being the main beneficiaries of the state`s biggest financial scam.

"CBI will not touch the Bengal chief minister and some other influential top MPs and leaders of the Trinamool. The highest advantages of the Saradha have been enjoyed by the CM, her party leaders and the Trinamool in total," said Ghosh, behind the bars since November 2013.

"The CBI presently is not going ahead with probe and not touching main conspirators of the scam who are roaming scot free.

"It is my utmost appeal to you is to ensure the investigation should be free and fair and the actual conspirators/users/advantage takers are arrested and punished," said Ghosh also pleading for his release.
