Kolkata: Hundreds of students angrily demonstrated outside the campus of prestigious Jadavpur University in West Bengal on Tuesday here, demanding a fresh probe into a molestation incident in which a girl student of the university had alleged that as many as ten male students dragged her into the boys hostel and molested her.
According to reports, the protesting students have demanded to set up a fresh probe committee as they do not rely on the internal probe being conducted by the college.
To keep the agitated students in control, who were also shouting slogans, police has been deployed inside the campus, as per reports.
Reportedly, the protesting students have also alleged that Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters in and outside the university are threatening students.
The shameful incident of molestation had occurred last month on August 28 evening during a festival organised by the college.
Post the horrific ordeal, the alleged victim informed the college authorities and filed a police complaint, following which the officials have begun the investigations. However, no arrests have been made so far.
Reports said that the male students were enrolled in the Arts faculty.
Earlier, a female student of Visva Bharati University of West Bengal had complained of sexual harassment.
The fine arts student of the university's Kala Bhavan was allegedly sexually assaulted by her classmates. She also alleged that they recorded some obscene pictures with their mobile phones and threatened to blackmail with those.
The traumatised student had to be admitted to a local hospital and was later released. She has finally decided to quit the university.
