Kolkata: A team of the National Investigation Agency arrived here on Monday and held a meeting with the Special Task Force of the city police in connection with the case against Sadanala Ramkrishna, Maoist technical committee chief, arrested last February, according to STF chief Somen Mitra.

Mitra said that the meeting discussed the ongoing case against Sadanala, who, along with his close aide Deepak Kumar, was rounded up by the STF from the city on February 28.

STF sources said that the NIA was likely to take over the case from STF.

The arrests were made after a tip-off by the Andhra Pradesh police`s intelligence wing.

Sources said that three other local operatives were also arrested from the northern fringes of the city by the police, which also busted an arms spare parts manufacturing unit and seized some arms.

The NIA team, the sources said, would interrogate Ramkrishna and others seeking clues about their contacts and might seek their custody for further investigation.
