Kolkata: The Northeast Frontier Railway Thursday denied that a toy train of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway had derailed near Chnabhatti on January 26 leading to the death of a passenger as reported in a section of the press.

"There had not been any derailment of narrow gauge train near Chnabhatti on 26th January 2015 and the report that three coaches of the toy train derailed is misleading," N F railway CPRO S Lahiri said.

The NF railway CPRO said in a statement that after one of the three coaches of the toy train derailed near Chnabhatti, around 30 km from here, tourists got panicked and started jumping from the train leading to the death of a woman and causing injury to several others.

"It is unfortunate that the deceased had panicked at the normal jolts and movement of the train and jumped from the running train leading to her death," the statement said.
