A middle-aged man, claimed to be a CPI(M) supporter died after he was beaten up in North 24 Parganas district.

Kolkata: A middle-aged man, claimed to be a CPI(M) supporter died after he was beaten up in North 24 Parganas district following which the party called for a 6-hour bandh in Barrackpore in the district.

Avishek Sengupta died of brain hemorrhage last night after a fight with an unidentified person, Barrackpore`s Additional SP Dhrubojyoti Dey said.
Sumanta Sen, who was with Sengupta, was also injured in the incident after which he was admitted to a nearby hospital.

One person was arrested in this incident.
Claiming that the victims are party supporters, the CPI(M) today called for a 6-hour bandh in Barrackpore Municipality and its adjacent areas.
