Kolkata: Congress on Saturday backed the proposal to deploy Central forces in West Bengal for panchayat elections.
Shakeel Ahmed, AICC general secretary said, "The deployment of Central forces is aimed at "ensuring peaceful polls so that no lives are lost, whatever steps the State Election Commission will take, we will support."
Ahmed discussed the party``s strategy with WBPCC leaders for the upcoming panchayat polls.
