West Bengal: Workers stuck inside mine due to technical glitch in lift

Around 42 coal miners of the Eastern Coalfields Ltd at Pandaveswar area in West Bengal were stuck inside a mine for four hours following technical glitch in a lift.

Kolkata: Around 42 coal miners of the Eastern Coalfields Ltd at Pandaveswar area in West Bengal were stuck inside a mine for four hours following technical glitch in a lift.

"Some 42 workers at Pandaveswar pit no 2 got stuck for about four hours till noon today after breakdown of the steam winder of the lift that carries miners in and out of the mine," Coal India officials said.

"All miners have been brought out after the lift was restored. They are safe and mining operations is going on as usual," they said.

"There was no problem in the mine except that the lift was not working for a few hours," they said.
