Algiers: At least 18 people have been killed in clashes between Arabs and Berbers in Algeria`s desert town of Ghrdaia, with several businesses burned down, medical sources and state media said on Wednesday.

The violence broke out over the weekend, with security forces sending reinforcements in a bid to calm down the renewed clashes that first took place in late 2013. Clashes intensified on Monday and Tuesday night.
